PetWatchClub Announcements:

What is this club about? Well, PetWatchClub.com is a unique nationwide social network of thousands of pets and their owners. It allows members to communicate with each other on a variety of issues - such as sharing information on great neighborhood places they bring their pet.

The club also serves as a resource for new pet owners (or pet owners who have recently moved) to quickly gain a footing in the neighborhood and find other great people to share the fun and responsibility of caring for their pets.

Unlike typical pet boarding and pet sitting services, the club allows members to discover great neighbors who may live a block or a few miles away, and share a common bond of genuinely caring for their pets. We have found that this connection and trust gives members a greater level of confidence to lend helping hand and take in a fellow member's pooch, kitten, or even lizard for a few days while their owner is out of town - with the knowledge that their hospitality will be returned later on when they need a helping hand.

If you aren't a member yet - we invite you to look around. Search for members in your zip code, view the features and "about us" pages, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Our motto here is "where pets and owners connect" - we'd love to have you join us and find this out for yourself!

  • Pets Need Owners' Help To Stay Warm In Winter
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Pets need the help of their owners to stay warm when the temperatures plunge. Pet owners who keep animals outdoors in the balmy Florida weather may need to rethink that when an unusual cold snap comes. Tropical birds can withstand some drops in temperature as long as it doesn't go below freezing or if there is a wind blowing on them as drafts can kill birds. Cats and dogs also have trouble generating body heat if they don't have a cozy shelter to snuggle up in. Veterinarian Dr. Pam Hendrickson said pet owners can put a travel crate in the garage for pets and make sure birds are covered from drafts. "I wouldn't sleep well myself if I thought my dog was out in a doghouse out in the yard trying to find a nice, warm place," Hendrickson said. "They're supposed to be family members, that's my belief. So, I think you should have a backup plan." Hendrickson said pet owners should cover pets' cages during travel because freezing air can get inside once a heated car door is opened. The change in temperature can give pets pneumonia. Also, horses need blanket coats when it gets cold, and reptiles will die if left in freezing temperatures.
